Nigeria's Defence Minister Attends Security Meeting in Chad

On a recent official visit to N'Djamena, Republic of Chad, Defence Minister Christoph Gwabin Musa, retired General, reaffirmed Nigeria's commitment to regional cooperation in security. The meeting involved defense ministers from troop-contributing countries to the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) and representatives from the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC).

Key discussions included strategies to address cross-border terrorism threats and the importance of sustaining collaborative efforts to degrade terrorist networks in the Lake Chad Basin. The meeting facilitated a review of ongoing operations and allowed ministers to consider reports from the Chief of Defence Staff and heads of intelligence and security agencies.

Challenges such as funding constraints and evolving threats were critically examined during a closed session. Musa commended the government and people of Chad for hosting the meeting and acknowledged the leadership role of Chad within the MNJTF framework, expressing appreciation for the support received at the LCBC summit aimed at advancing peace and security in the region.
