Nigeria Reaffirms Commitment to Lake Chad Security Cooperation

Nigeria's commitment to regional security cooperation was reaffirmed during a ministerial meeting of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) held in Chad. General Christoph Musa, the Minister of Defence, emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration among member states to degrade terrorist networks and stabilize the region.

The meeting brought together defense ministers and senior security officials from Chad, Cameroon, Nigeria, and Benin, alongside intelligence chiefs and operational stakeholders, to assess ongoing operations and strengthen coordinated responses to evolving threats. Discussions included a review of reports from the Chief of Defence Staff and the head of intelligence agencies, focusing on operational effectiveness and funding constraints.

General Musa commended the government and people of Chad for hosting the meeting and acknowledged the country's leadership within the regional security framework. The ministers expressed appreciation for Chad's presidency of the Lake Chad Basin Commission and reiterated their commitment to supporting peace and stability in the region.
