Delta Assembly Begins Six-Week Recess for Lawmakers

The Delta State House of Assembly has officially adjourned plenary for a six-week annual recess, a decision made on Tuesday following a motion moved by the Leader of the House, Mr Emeka Nwaobi, and seconded by Mr Pereotu Oloye, the member representing Burutu II Constituency. The motion was unanimously adopted during a session presided over by Speaker Hon Emomotimi Guwor.

Before the recess was declared, Guwor commended the lawmakers for their dedication and commitment to their legislative duties during the previous session. He encouraged members to utilize the break to participate in scheduled training programs aimed at enhancing their legislative knowledge and performance.

Additionally, Guwor advised lawmakers to visit their constituencies to engage with residents, assess their needs, and gather feedback on government policies and programs. He emphasized that this information would aid the House in making informed decisions.

The House is expected to resume plenary on September 1, 2026.
