Kebbi Assembly Suspends Activities for One-Month Recess

The Kebbi State House of Assembly has officially begun a one-month recess, suspending all legislative activities until August 11, 2026. This decision was announced on Wednesday by the Speaker, Rt.

Hon. Salihu Maikasuwa Dangoj, during a plenary session at the assembly complex in Birnin Kebbi.

The recess follows the adoption of a motion moved by the Majority Leader, Hon. Faruku Aliyu Nassarawa Jega, which sought the suspension of sittings until the specified date.

The motion received unanimous support from members, including a second from Hon. Faruku Abubakar Maisudan.

In his remarks, the Speaker urged lawmakers to utilize the recess period to engage with their constituents, identify challenges affecting their communities, and gather feedback to support legislative activities when the assembly reconvenes. This recess is part of the assembly's legislative calendar, providing lawmakers an opportunity to attend to their constituents before the commencement of a new legislative session.
