Delta CP Yemi Oyeniyi Advocates Police-Judiciary Cohesion

On Tuesday, Delta State Commissioner of Police Yemi Oyeniyi paid a courtesy visit to Chief Judge Theresa Diai. During the visit, Oyeniyi expressed concerns regarding the division between the police and judiciary, noting that such a divide can hinder effective crime fighting.

He emphasized the importance of synergy between the two institutions, stating that their complementary roles are crucial for the criminal justice system. Oyeniyi acknowledged that while the police face operational shortcomings, it is vital for them to understand and appreciate the judiciary's role in upholding justice and the rule of law.

He appealed for continued mutual support in the collective fight against crime, aiming to reduce crime rates and ensure public safety across Delta State. Chief Judge Diai appreciated the visit and expressed optimism about strengthening the relationship between the police and judiciary to improve justice administration in the state.
