Delta Governor's Aide Resigns for 2027 Election Bid

Olorogun Samson, serving as an executive assistant to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, formally resigned on March 2, 2026. His resignation letter indicated a desire to fully pursue his political ambitions to represent Ughelli South Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly during the 2027 general elections.

Samson's decision followed deep reflection and consultations with family and political leaders. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve under Governor Oborevwori, describing it as a privilege and a significant honor in his public life.

In his letter, he emphasized the importance of avoiding any conflict between his official duties and political aspirations, pledging continued loyalty to the governor and the administration. The resignation is effective from March 31, 2026, as disclosed in a statement signed by Kingsley Ez Emu, the Secretary to the State Government.

This move aligns with the provisions of Section 88(1) of the Electoral Act 2026 regarding political appointments.
