Delta State Government Demands Peaceful Campaigns Amid Violence

The Delta State Government condemned the violence reported in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area, involving two political parties. State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu, stated that no individual or political group would be allowed to disrupt the state's peace.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori directed security agencies to investigate the incident thoroughly and ensure that those responsible face justice. Aniagwu expressed concern over a viral video of the incident and reiterated the government's commitment to zero tolerance for political violence, regardless of party affiliation.

He emphasized that political campaigns must remain peaceful and that political affiliation does not exempt individuals from legal consequences. The commissioner urged political leaders and supporters to maintain peace during campaigns and called on security agencies to ensure a fair environment for all political actors.
