Delta North APC Chairmen Demand Suspension of Congresses

Ward chairmen of the Delta North APC have formally requested the suspension of ongoing ward congresses, alleging that the process is flawed and inconsistent with party constitution. In a protest letter addressed to Soboti Omeni, the Delta State APC chairman, they urged party leadership to halt the current exercise and conduct fresh congresses under a transparent framework.

The chairmen, representing nine local government areas, expressed concerns that the current process sidelines established grassroots leaders and undermines internal democracy at the ward level. They accused new entrants into the party of prioritizing self-preservation over genuine commitment to party ideals, warning that this trend could weaken the party's grassroots structure ahead of future elections.

The letter was signed by notable chairmen including Frank Asimoy from Aniocha North and Pastor Andrew Ehiyem from Ika North East, among others, emphasizing the need for a fair and transparent congress process to restore party cohesion.
