Transformer Breakdown Disrupts Services at DELSUTH

Essential medical services at the University Teaching Hospital (DELSUTH) in Oghara, Delta State, have been significantly impaired following the breakdown of the transformer serving the institution. The Association of Resident Doctors at DELSUTH, represented by President Dr Aghogho Isaac, Secretary-General Dr Ogochukwu Nwochuku, and Public Relations Officer Dr Asogwa Chijioke, issued a statement expressing deep concern over the disruption of critical healthcare services.

The hospital is currently relying on generators that provide limited electricity for only a few hours daily. The doctors emphasized that healthcare delivery will remain constrained until the installation of a new transformer, which was donated by the Delta State Government, is fully completed and energized.

They urged the contractors responsible for the installation, the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), and all relevant stakeholders to expedite the restoration of electricity, highlighting that stable power is essential for saving lives, preserving medical equipment, and ensuring quality healthcare services.
