Delta State Urges Youths to Enlist in Nigerian Army

The Delta State government, represented by Secretary to the State Government Dr. Kingsley Emu, is urging young indigenes to enlist in the Nigerian Army as part of a campaign to enhance military recruitment.

This initiative follows a visit from a recruitment team led by Brig. Gen.

Mose Ikobah. The campaign aims to raise awareness and participation among eligible youths, utilizing traditional institutions and local government structures to reach out effectively.

The recruitment exercise began on March 30, 2026, and has a deadline of May 17, 2026, with the Nigerian Army aiming to enlist 14,000 personnel nationwide. Delta State has been allocated approximately 400 recruitment slots, but as of April 7, 2026, only 38,000 applications were recorded, significantly lower than previous years.

The state government is addressing logistical barriers and encouraging youth participation to ensure fair representation in the army and enhance national security.
