Delta Woman Arrested for Trafficking to Côte d’Ivoire

The Delta State Police Command has arrested 26-year-old Ese Betty Isiorho for allegedly trafficking a 25-year-old woman to Côte d’Ivoire, promising her vocational training in hairdressing. According to SP Bright Edafe, the Police Public Relations Officer, Isiorho was apprehended by operatives of the Effurun Area Command following a petition.

Investigations revealed that the victim was coerced into prostitution upon arrival in Côte d’Ivoire. Isiorho confessed to trafficking this victim and another woman in her twenties, who is still believed to be in Côte d’Ivoire.

The police successfully rescued the 25-year-old victim, who has since been reunited with her family and is receiving medical care. Efforts are ongoing to secure the return of the second victim and apprehend other members of the trafficking syndicate.

Delta State Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the operation and reiterated the command's commitment to combating human trafficking and organized crime.
