Delta's Teacher Tracking Model to Enhance National Education

Aisha Garba, the Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), recognized Delta State's technology-driven teacher attendance system, Attend360, as an innovative model that could enhance accountability and learning outcomes across Nigeria. During a courtesy visit to Delta State, represented by Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme, Garba highlighted the critical role of teacher presence in effective education.

The visit coincided with the 30th Quarterly Meeting of UBEC Management with Executive Chairmen of State Universal Basic Education Boards (SUBEBs) in Asaba, themed “Repositioning Basic Education in Nigeria to Optimise Investment and Impact.” Garba commended Delta for its progress in education and its effective use of technology, noting the state's success in accessing UBE matching grants. She urged Delta to fully utilize UBEC funds and implement approved programs promptly.

Additionally, she encouraged the state to engage with the HOPE Education Programme, which has $500 million allocated for education. Deputy Governor Onyeme assured UBEC of Delta's commitment to improving its education system and clarified the state's unutilized funds.
