UBEC Delivers 4,000 Classrooms in Kano, Boosts Teacher Recruitment

The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has announced the delivery of nearly 4,000 classrooms in Kano State, aimed at enhancing access to quality basic education. Aisha Garba, the UBEC Executive Secretary, made this statement during an inspection of UBEC-supported projects alongside the Minister of Education, Dr.

Maruf Tunji Alausa; the Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad; and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. The inspection focused on classrooms constructed under the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which are intended to provide safer learning environments and encourage school enrolment.

Garba noted that the Kano State Government has recruited over 16,000 teachers, addressing teacher shortages, particularly in underserved areas. She emphasized that investments in teachers are crucial for quality education, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's directive that every Nigerian child deserves access to quality education.

Garba commended Governor Yusuf for prioritizing education and stressed the need for collaboration among federal and state governments to ensure equitable basic education.
