Peter Obi Condemns Thug Attack on ADC Event in Bakassi

Peter Obi, a former presidential candidate, condemned the attack on the African Democratic Congress (ADC) event in Bakassi Local Government Area, Cross River State. In a statement, Obi described the incident as a significant setback for democracy, highlighting that the attack by political thugs on the party's office occurred without fear of retribution.

He lamented the low standards of democracy in Nigeria, warning that such political misconduct could push the country towards violence. The attack disrupted the planned opening of the ADC secretariat on Saturday, with reports indicating that the thugs stormed the venue, dispersing attendees and destroying canopies and sound equipment arranged for the event.

Obi, who previously served as the governor of Anambra State, emphasized the need for a restoration of leadership standards to combat the erosion of democratic values.
