Dickson Denies NDC's Ticket Sale Allegations in Interview

Seriake Dickson, the former governor of Bayelsa State, rejected claims that the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) sells nomination tickets to the highest bidders. During a television interview on Wednesday, he acknowledged the shortcomings of the party's recent primary elections and addressed grievances raised by members from several states, including Edo and Imo.

Dickson explained that the party intends to introduce electronic voting to improve transparency, although logistical challenges hinder immediate implementation. He noted that the primary process is complicated, especially for a newly established political platform managing a large number of aspirants, which can create intense competition and disputes.

Dickson emphasized that there is no evidence to support claims that wealth determines access to the governorship ticket, stating that the NDC does not sell nomination forms based on financial capacity. He acknowledged that financial resources are a consideration in electoral politics but stressed that this should not be misconstrued as commercializing party tickets.
