PDP Faction Loyal to Wike Schedules Presidential Primary

The faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to Nyesom Wike has announced that its presidential primary will take place on May 25, 2026. This decision was made during the 106th meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) held in Abuja.

The NEC also approved a new timetable for the 2027 general elections, with state assembly primaries set for May 2, national assembly primaries on May 9, and governorship primaries on May 16, 2026. The committee stressed the urgent need for reconciliation and unity among party leaders and stakeholders, urging members to avoid further litigation, particularly regarding a Supreme Court process that could undermine party stability.

The NEC reaffirmed preparations for the upcoming national convention scheduled for March 29-30, 2026. Alhaji Abdulrahman Moh, the chairman of the national caretaker committee, called for restraint among members to facilitate genuine reconciliation and consolidate the party's position ahead of the elections.
