Yemisi Iranloye Transforms Cassava Farming in Nigeria

Yemisi Iranloye, the founder of Psaltry International, has revolutionized cassava processing by locating her factory in a village surrounded by ideal farmland. This strategic placement addresses the issue of cassava's rapid deterioration post-harvest, which previously forced farmers to transport their produce over long distances.

As a result, 35,000 farmers, mostly women, now have a reliable local buyer, significantly enhancing their economic situation. The factory's proximity allows for immediate sales, leading to improved livelihoods, with mothers now able to send their children to university.

Additionally, solar power has illuminated entire villages around the plant, and major companies such as Nestlé, Unilever, and Nigerian Breweries are purchasing cassava directly from these farmers, transforming what was once waste into valuable inventory.
