Peter Obi's Quote on Yoruba Muslims is Proven False

This claim was based on a screenshot from Obi's interview on Arise Television. However, fact-checkers from CableCheck reviewed the full interview, which lasted under 50 minutes, and found that Obi did not make any such remark regarding Yoruba Muslims.

The only relevant comment he made pertained to his plans for spending the Sallah holidays if elected president, where he criticized the current president for celebrating the occasion in Lagos and expressed a desire to use such moments to promote national unity. The claim about Yoruba Muslims is therefore false, with no supporting evidence from the interview or other verified sources.

Obi had resigned from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on May 2, 2026, and was ratified as the NDC presidential candidate on May 29, 2026.
