Diri Advocates Christian Unity at CAN Inauguration in Bayelsa

On Tuesday, Bayelsa State Governor Senator Douye Diri called for greater unity within the Christian community during the inauguration of the new State Executive Council of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Bayelsa Chapter, at the Redeemed Glory Family Church in Agudama-Epie, Yenagoa. Represented by his deputy, Dr Peter Akpe, Diri emphasized that unity is essential for the Church to fulfill its divine purpose, highlighting issues such as bickering and personal aggrandizement that hinder this unity.

He stressed the importance of preaching the real gospel and speaking truth to power. Diri congratulated the outgoing leadership led by Rev. Father Joseph Opelema and expressed confidence in the new executive council's ability to foster relationships within the Church.

Rev. Father Victor Ofili, the CAN South-South Vice Chairman, commended the Bayelsa chapter for its unity and financial responsibility, while the new chairman, Rev. Abili Samuel Abili, pledged to lead with humility and responsibility.
