DisCos Generate N203.61bn from Electricity in April

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) reported that electricity distribution companies (DisCos) generated N203.61 billion from electricity consumers in April. The total bill for the month was N252.43 billion, indicating a collection efficiency of 80.66%, which is a decline of 1.07 percentage points from March.

DisCos received electricity worth N302.96 billion, with the collected figure representing a billing efficiency of 83.32%, reflecting a slight decrease of 0.57 percentage points from the previous month. The average actual collection stood at N102.13 per kilowatt hour (kWh), compared to the average tariff of N124.39 per kWh.

The top-performing DisCos in terms of recovery efficiency included Eko with 102.09%, Abuja with 89.77%, and Ikeja with 88.89%. The report underscores the ongoing challenges in the electricity distribution sector in Nigeria.
