Tinubu Swears in Olatunji Disu as New IGP

On Wednesday afternoon, President Bola Tinubu administered the oath of office to Olatunji Disu, who has been appointed as the new Inspector General of Police, succeeding Kayode Egbetokun. The ceremony took place in the Council Chamber of the State House in Abuja, coinciding with a Federal Executive Council meeting.

Tinubu did not deliver a speech during the swearing-in. Disu, in his address, highlighted the significance of establishing state police and prioritizing the welfare of police officers.

He acknowledged the challenges faced by law enforcement, particularly in light of recent global tensions, and assured that necessary actions would be taken to maintain law and order. Disu also mentioned the importance of community engagement and the need for police officers to be well-supported in their roles, especially given the difficult circumstances they often encounter.
