DLA Criticizes Tinubu Over Budget Under-implementation

The Democratic and Leadership Alliance (DLA) has criticized the federal government and President Bola Tinubu for ongoing under-implementation of federal budgets, selective execution of appropriated projects, and significant debts owed to contractors. In a statement by Dr. Tosin Odeyemi, the party's National Campaign Council Head of Media and Publicity, it was noted that none of the capital budgets since 2023 have achieved 30 percent implementation, with the 2025 budget reportedly below 10 percent.

The DLA expressed concerns over the management of government revenues and the lack of transparency regarding the relationship between increasing federal revenue and national development. They highlighted the economic hardships faced by Nigerians, including declining purchasing power and deteriorating infrastructure.

The party questioned why contractors are protesting unpaid projects and demanded accountability from Tinubu regarding the appropriated funds. Furthermore, the DLA criticized the repeated reliance on budget extensions, which raises concerns about fiscal discipline and the government's ability to deliver on its promises.
