Court Adjourns Donald Duke's Presidential Candidacy Case

The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned the case concerning Donald Duke's emergence as the presidential candidate for the People's Redemption Party (PRP) to June 29. This decision was made due to the absence of counsel representing the party.

Abdullahi Muhammad, the plaintiff's counsel, requested the adjournment to enable the filing of a motion for substituted service regarding court processes involving Duke. The court, presided over by Justice Moham Umar, noted that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had not served Duke with the original summons.

The case, which seeks to void Duke's candidacy, was first mentioned on June 10, with the plaintiff questioning Duke's registration status with the PRP prior to the May 25 primary elections. The plaintiff is seeking a court order to set aside the results of the presidential election conducted by the PRP.
