Umahi Flags Off Gombe-Biu Highway, Backs Tinubu on Security

On June 4, 2026, Engr. David Umahi, the Minister of Works, officially flagged off the Gombe-Biu Super Highway project in Gombe State, expressing confidence that the security challenges facing Nigeria will be overcome under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration.

During the ceremony, Umahi described the project as a demonstration of Tinubu's commitment to infrastructure development and national unity. He commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for transforming Gombe State and assured residents that construction activities would commence almost immediately, with real work expected within 30 days.

The Gombe-Biu section is part of a larger 700-kilometer legacy project. Umahi also addressed national security challenges, urging that they should not be politicized, as doing so could exacerbate insecurity.

He cited historical projects that have now come to fruition under Tinubu's leadership, including the Sokoto-Badagry and Lagos-Calabar highways, which had been long-conceived but unrealized.
