Wike Urges FCT Monarchs to Avoid 2023 Election Mistakes

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), called on traditional rulers to avoid repeating the mistakes made during the 2023 elections. He made this statement during a visit from monarchs who were strategizing with stakeholders.

Wike emphasized the importance of sending qualified representatives to the National Assembly, specifically mentioning Senator Philip Aduda, who he believes possesses the necessary qualities to represent the FCT effectively. He criticized the current representation, arguing that it lacks the experience needed to influence legislative decisions.

Wike reminded the monarchs that despite giving President Bola Ahmed Tinubu less than six percent of the vote in the 2023 presidential election, they must prioritize the FCT's infrastructure and educational needs. He also warned against electing inexperienced council chairmen and urged leaders to solve educational issues rather than lamenting the ongoing industrial actions affecting schools.
