Cleric Appeals to Wike: Preserve Jabi Lake Recreation Land

Cleric Omakwu made a heartfelt appeal in a video shared on Instagram, kneeling before Mr. Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), urging him not to sell the land of the Jabi Lake Recreation Centre. Omakwu highlighted the park's vital role in the community, serving as a space for exercise, social gatherings, and recreational activities.

She expressed concern over the shrinking public access to open spaces in the capital, referencing past restrictions around Aso Rock. Omakwu's plea comes in light of a recent agreement signed by the FCT Administration under Wike in February, which involves a partnership with a private firm to transform Jabi Lake into a major recreational and tourism hub.

She implored the minister to heed her call, emphasizing that the land should remain accessible to everyone and not be sold to anyone.
