Doro Urges Commitment from Humanitarian Workers in Nigeria

On Wednesday, during the commemoration of the 2026 World Humanitarian Day in Abuja, Dr. Bernard Doro, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, encouraged humanitarian workers to remain dedicated to their roles, assuring them that their contributions are valued by Nigerians. The event, organized by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction in collaboration with Nigeria Humanitarian Action (NIHA), focused on the theme “Strengthening Global Solidarity and Empowering Local Communities.” Doro stated that the federal government, under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, is committed to supporting vulnerable Nigerians.

He outlined plans for a national humanitarian coordination system that promotes collaboration among various stakeholders. Doro introduced the One Humanitarian, One Poverty Response System (OHOPRS) as a framework to enhance coordination and reduce duplication in humanitarian efforts.

He called for increased investment in the welfare and professional development of humanitarian personnel, emphasizing the need for a motivated workforce to ensure effective responses.
