Doro Reaffirms Commitment to Empower Vulnerable Nigerians

Dr. Bernard M. Doro, the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to transitioning vulnerable Nigerians from aid dependency to self-reliance through sustainable empowerment programs and strategic partnerships.

This assurance was made during a meeting with a delegation from the Am the Future of Nigeria (IFON) Youth Initiative, led by Executive Director Mrs. Noni Okocha, at his office in Abuja. Dr. Doro emphasized the Ministry's focus on serving the poor and vulnerable, driven by his passion for humanitarian service.

He reiterated the Ministry’s vision of “One Humanitarian, One Poverty Response System (OHOPRS),” aimed at harmonizing humanitarian and poverty reduction efforts. He commended the IFON Youth Initiative for its impact on internally displaced persons (IDPs), particularly highlighting the success of musician OG Abbah as an example of effective empowerment.

Mrs. Okocha appealed for the Ministry’s partnership in upcoming international engagements, including events in the United Kingdom to commemorate World Humanitarian Day.
