Dr. Doro Advocates Unified Payment System for Social Benefits

On July 28, 2026, Dr. Bernard M. Doro, the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, called for enhanced collaboration among government institutions to create a unified, transparent, and efficient Government-to-Person (G2P) payment system.

This system aims to ensure timely, secure, and accountable delivery of social benefits to vulnerable Nigerians. Dr. Doro made these remarks at the Stakeholder Engagement and Business Requirements Validation Workshop on the G2P Solution for Direct Benefits Transfer to Nigerians, held at the State House Auditorium, Aso Villa Abuja.

He emphasized that delayed or failed payments have significant consequences for vulnerable households and that effective social protection relies on reliable delivery systems. The proposed G2P Solution seeks to strengthen coordination among agencies without creating new institutions.

Dr. Doro described it as a critical component of the Ministry’s One Humanitarian, One Poverty Response System (OHOPRS) and stressed the need for broad ownership across various stakeholders to transition to a coordinated system supporting sustainable poverty alleviation.
