Kaduna Man Accuses Sheikh Gumi of Marriage Interference

Nasiru Musa Idris publicly accused prominent Islamic scholar Sheikh Ahmad Gumi of interfering in his marriage and obstructing security agencies from investigating the disappearance of his Moroccan wife, who he claims has been in Gumi's custody for approximately 11 months. Idris made these allegations during an interview with RFI, stating that he met Gumi at a pharmacy in Kaduna and later introduced his wife to him.

He asserted that their marriage was contracted with the full consent of her parents and with proper documentation. The conflict began when Gumi allegedly insisted on obtaining an additional marriage certificate from a Sharia Court.

Idris claims that after bringing his wife to Gumi for counseling, the cleric began advocating for their separation and obstructing inquiries into her whereabouts. Gumi denied the allegations and stated his intention to sue Idris for defamation.

Malam Nasiru Ayuba, Gumi's personal assistant, also rejected the claims, stating that the Moroccan woman sought Gumi's help independently.
