APC and PDP Disown Petitions Against Gov Adeleke

On September 5, 2026, two petitions were presented at the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Osogbo, allegedly filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, as well as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola, known as Fryo. However, both the APC and PDP publicly disowned these petitions, leading to significant confusion.

Members of the APC's legal team, including Muideen Adeoye and Chief Abiodun Layonu, stated that neither the party nor Oyebamiji authorized the petitions, asserting that they had agreed not to challenge the election results. The petitions were initially interpreted as a legal challenge to Governor Ademola Adeleke's victory in the August 15 governorship election, but the APC's legal representatives clarified that they had not filed any such documents.
