APC Legal Team Rejects Petition Over Osun Election Results

The All Progressives Congress (APC) legal team in Osun State has publicly rejected a petition that was filed in the party's name before the state's election tribunal following the August 15 gubernatorial election, which resulted in the victory of Governor Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke from the Accord Party. Adekunle Adegoke (SAN), representing the legal team, stated in a telephone interview that neither the APC nor its governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, authorized or filed any petition with the tribunal.

Adegoke mentioned that a meeting was held with Oyebamiji and senior party members after the election results to evaluate their options, ultimately deciding against proceeding to the tribunal to help reduce political tension in the state. Despite this, notices of two petitions appeared on the tribunal's notice board, one of which lists Oyebamiji and the APC as petitioners.

The second petition was filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which did not field a candidate in the election, adding complexity to the situation.
