Truck Driver Arrested After Crash Injures Lagos Operator

A truck driver was arrested following a serious accident in Lagos where a 40-foot container truck lost control and crashed into a commercial minibus, injuring a female Point of Sale operator. The incident occurred along the service lane adjacent to a police tactical team station, causing panic in the vicinity.

Adebayo Taofiq, a spokesperson for the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), confirmed that the driver lost control of the articulated vehicle, which overturned and collided with the minibus and a roadside shop. The female operator sustained severe leg injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.

LASTMA officials coordinated traffic control and recovery operations, while the police began a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The driver was apprehended by LASTMA personnel and subsequently handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Olalekan Bakar Oki, the general manager of LASTMA, warned that negligent vehicle maintenance poses a serious threat to public safety across Lagos State.
