Driver Escapes Unharmed as Truck Catches Fire in Lagos

On Saturday, a truck caught fire near Otedola Bridge in Lagos, with the driver narrowly escaping injury. The incident occurred along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, close to the Alausa Secretariat.

Preliminary assessments indicated that the Mack truck, transporting an empty 20-foot container, ignited while in motion, posing a significant threat to road users. Olalekan Bakar Oki, the General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), stated that the agency's personnel acted promptly to preserve human life and successfully rescued the driver without injury.

The Lagos State Fire Rescue Service collaborated in containing the fire, preventing it from escalating into a major incident. Oki commended the professionalism of the operatives and reiterated the agency's commitment to safeguarding lives and property.

Motorists were advised to conduct regular mechanical checks on their vehicles and exercise caution on the roads to prevent similar incidents.
