LASTMA Responds to Train Collision with Vehicle in Lagos
A train traveling towards Agege collided with a Honda vehicle, registration number EKY 902 JT, in Lagos. The driver of the vehicle escaped without injury.
Operatives from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and security personnel promptly rescued the driver and cleared the wrecked vehicle from the railway track, allowing the train to continue its journey. Fortunately, no casualties were reported from the incident.
However, the collision resulted in significant traffic congestion around the PWD axis, disrupting vehicular movement in the area. The wrecked vehicle was handed over to security personnel for further investigation into the cause of the collision.
Olalekan Bakare-Oki, the General Manager of LASTMA, praised the agency’s operatives and security personnel for their swift and coordinated response. He stressed the importance of inter-agency collaboration and rapid emergency intervention in managing incidents involving railway operations and road infrastructure.
Bakare-Oki urged motorists to exercise caution at railway crossings and adhere to safety regulations to prevent accidents.
