Police Arrest Suspected Arms Dealer in Kano Operation

On Friday, the Kano State Police Command arrested 35-year-old Umar Danladi Usman, a suspected arms dealer, during a sting operation in the Dala Local Government Area. The operation, conducted by the Anti-Kidnap Squad, led to the recovery of three fabricated AK-47 rifles, five live cartridges, three empty shells, three jack knives, and a pair of jungle desert boots.

Usman was intercepted while driving a tinted Honda Accord vehicle, and a search revealed the weapons. He allegedly confessed during interrogation to procuring the rifles from Dutsin Ma Local Government Area in Katsina State.

The police are currently investigating to apprehend accomplices and dismantle the supply network. CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa issued a statement commending the operation, which reflects the ongoing police reform efforts aimed at tackling violent crime through intelligence-led policing.

Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Bakori emphasized the importance of community vigilance and support for security agencies.
