DSS Arrests Ammunition Courier, Disrupts Bandit Supply Chain

The Department of State Services (DSS) arrested 25-year-old Nafisa Usman, who is accused of supplying ammunition to bandits operating across multiple states. Usman was apprehended at a major motor park in Kano while transporting 200 rounds of newly acquired ammunition destined for Kankara, Katsina State.

This operation was based on intelligence regarding her movements and activities. Usman, a native of Zango Village in Kankara Local Government Area, confessed to a two-month trade in illegal arms.

She disclosed that the ammunition was meant for a bandit leader known as Mallam Haruna, who operates in the Kankara forest. Usman admitted to facilitating a 5 million naira deal at the Unguwa Uku motor park in Kano for onward transport to Katsina State.

She also mentioned introducing a bandit network to a Kano-based livestock trader named Sulaiman. This operation underscores the DSS's ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks and disrupt illicit arms supply chains to safeguard national security.
