DSS Rescues Kano LG Secretary, Arrests Two Suspects

The Department of State Services (DSS) successfully rescued Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, the Secretary of Kibiya Local Government Area in Kano, who had been abducted by armed men. The operation, which was characterized by professionalism, led to the arrest of two suspects, one of whom, Nasiru, sustained a gunshot wound during the encounter.

The DSS acted promptly to ensure the safe release of the victim without any ransom being paid. Initially, the kidnappers demanded N300 million, later reducing it to N100 million.

The Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, welcomed the development, emphasizing the need for community vigilance and cooperation to strengthen state security. The kidnappers had gained entry into Waiya's home while he was with his son and had kept him blindfolded in a livestock room during his captivity.

Nasiru confessed that the gang operated from Rijana in Kaduna State and had received assistance from local informants.
