Ansaru Terror Suspects to be Re-Arraigned in Abuja Court

The Department of State Services (DSS) is scheduled to re-arraign five suspected members of the Ansaru terrorist group before the Federal High Court in Abuja regarding their alleged involvement in the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State on May 15. The suspects, Mahmud Muhammad (aka Abu Bara’a), Abbas Mukhtar, Abubakar Abbas (aka Isah Adam), Mallam Mahmuda Al-Nigeri, Abdulrazak Umar (aka Abu Khalifa), Yunusa Musa (aka Abu Yunusa Bin Musa), and Shamsu Adamu Sani (aka Abu Itisar), face a six-count amended charge marked FHC/ABJ/CR/438/2026, filed by Rotimi Oyedepo, the Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation.

The initial arraignment was postponed due to an objection from Muhammad regarding legal representation. The defendants expressed a desire for their previous lawyer, Bala Dakum, to continue representing them.

Justice Saliu Ibrahim adjourned the case until Thursday, instructing the suspects to ensure Dakum's presence in court and allowing them access to their lawyer for defense preparation.
