DStv Announces Major Subscription Changes for 2026

DStv is poised for one of its most significant subscription changes in years, with Canal+ planning a new package structure that is expected to take effect on September 17, 2026. Although MultiChoice has not officially confirmed the details, leaked information suggests the introduction of five main packages: Starter (R99/month), Select (R299/month), Sports (R399/month), Movies & Series (R500/month), and Premium (R799/month).

A notable change is the proposed standalone DStv Sports package, which would include approximately 115 channels focused on sports, such as the Premier League and UEFA, appealing to subscribers who primarily want live sports without the higher cost of the Premium package. However, certain major sporting events, including Formula 1 and MotoGP, are expected to remain exclusive to the Premium tier.

The Movies & Series package is also significant, as it would include M-Net and other channels, making its content more accessible. This overhaul comes as DStv faces subscriber losses due to affordability pressures and competition from streaming services.
