D’Tigress Finalize Squad for 2026 FIBA World Cup in Germany

D’Tigress head coach Rena Wakama has officially named Nigeria's final 12-player squad for the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup, which will take place in Germany from September 4 to 13. Amy Okonkwo will serve as the captain of the reigning African champions, marking Nigeria's third appearance at the global tournament, having previously participated in 2006 and 2018.

Ezinne Kalu and Promise Amukamara are the only players returning from the 2018 World Cup, making them the first Nigerian athletes to compete in two editions of the tournament. The team arrived in Berlin on Wednesday and has been drawn into Group B, alongside Hungary, the Republic of Korea, and France.

D’Tigress will kick off their campaign against the Republic of Korea at the Berlin Arena on September 4, followed by matches against Hungary and France on September 5 and 7, respectively. The team aims to build on their historic quarter-final run at the 2018 World Cup in Spain.
