D’Tigress Defeats China 88-77 in Final Exhibition Game

Nigeria’s D’Tigress, the African champions, finished their three-game exhibition series against China with an 88-77 victory on Wednesday at the Nanhai Sports Center Gymnasium in Foshan. After losing the first two games 70-67 and 69-65, D’Tigress made a strong comeback, dominating the first half with a 58-29 lead.

They outscored China 32-17 in the first quarter and 26-12 in the second. Although China won the third and fourth quarters 23-13 and 25-17 respectively, Nigeria's substantial first-half lead secured their victory.

The team, coached by Rena Wakama, will now prepare for upcoming warm-up games in Spain against hosts Spain and Belgium from August 15 to 24. Following this, they will travel to Zaragoza for further exhibition matches against Mali and Puerto Rico between August 25 and September 3, ahead of the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup, which begins in Berlin, Germany, on September 4.
