Edin Dzeko to Retire from International Football

Edin Dzeko, the 40-year-old striker, is set to play his final match for Bosnia and Herzegovina against Sweden on October 2, marking the end of an illustrious international career. Dzeko announced his decision on social media, expressing the emotional weight of this moment.

He made his debut for the national team at 21, scoring in a UEFA EURO 2008 qualifying match against Türkiye. Dzeko became a key player, netting nine goals during the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign and playing a pivotal role in Bosnia and Herzegovina's first World Cup qualification in 2014.

He scored the opening goal in their inaugural World Cup victory against Iran. Dzeko's contributions continued through the latest qualification campaign, where he scored in the UEFA play-off semi-final against Wales.
