INEC Must Adopt E-Transmission, Says Saka Azimazi

Saka Azimazi, during an interview on Arise Television, stated that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has no valid excuse for not adopting electronic transmission of election results. He emphasized the importance of real-time result transmission for the benefit of Nigerians.

Azimazi's remarks came on a Monday as he discussed the ongoing debates and protests led by Nigerian youth, opposition politicians, and civil society organizations demanding mandatory electronic transmission of election results. He criticized the legislative committee for its inconclusive discussions regarding the amendment of laws to facilitate this process.

Azimazi pointed out that technological advancements, such as those used by Moniepoint and Opay for business transactions across Nigeria, should be leveraged by INEC to enhance electoral transparency and efficiency. He firmly stated that denying Nigerians the ability to receive timely election results is unacceptable.
