Eala Defeats Parks to Reach Toronto Open Third Round

Alexandra Eala, the No. 25 seed, progressed to the third round of the National Bank Open in Toronto on Wednesday, defeating Alycia Parks with a score of 6-1, 4-6, 6-2. Eala, a 20-year-old Filipina, recently won her first singles title on the WTA Tour at the Mubadala Citi DC Open in Washington just two days prior.

In the match, Eala dominated the first set, winning five consecutive games from 1-1 to take it 6-1 without facing a break point. Parks rallied in the second set, overcoming early challenges to break Eala in the 10th game and win the set 6-4.

The third set saw both players exchange early breaks, but Eala secured a decisive break in the fifth game, ultimately winning the match in 1 hour and 51 minutes. Eala converted five out of 14 break points, while Parks converted both of her break-point opportunities.

This victory improved Eala's head-to-head record against Parks to 2-1.
