Swiatek and Rybakina Shocked in Wimbledon Exits

Iga Swiatek, the reigning champion and six-time Grand Slam winner, was eliminated in the third round of Wimbledon on Saturday, losing to Alexandra Eala in a dramatic match that lasted 84 minutes. Eala, who is 21 years old, became the first player from the Philippines to reach the third round of a Grand Slam event in the Open Era.

She secured her victory over Swiatek with a score of 7-6 (11-9), 6-2. This marks Swiatek's earliest exit from a major tournament since her third-round defeat at Wimbledon two years ago.

Eala will next face former runner-up Jasmine Paolini in the last 16. In another upset, former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina lost to Elis Mertens with a score of 7-6 (7-4), 6-1, marking her second consecutive early exit from a Grand Slam event after her recent defeat at the French Open.
