Enugu Bishop Urges National Renewal Amid Insecurity

In his Easter message delivered on Thursday, Rt. Rev.

Prof. Samuel Ik, the Anglican Bishop of Enugu, expressed deep concerns regarding the escalating insecurity and soaring fuel prices in Nigeria.

He highlighted the government's past failures to address these issues, referencing Nigeria's alarming position as the fourth most terrorized nation according to a recent global terror index report. Bishop Ik called for a national renewal, urging the government, particularly the presidency, to embrace servant leadership and prioritize the welfare of the poor and vulnerable.

He lamented the current fuel prices, noting petrol selling between N1,350 and N1,410 per liter, and diesel at N1,820 per liter, linking these increases to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and questioning the effectiveness of Nigeria's refineries despite significant investments. He concluded his message by encouraging Nigerians to embrace love, sacrifice, and peace, emphasizing the need for collective efforts to rebuild the nation.
