Northern Christians Decry Violence Ahead of Easter

Ahead of Easter, Northern Christians are lamenting the rising attacks in Plateau and Kaduna states, particularly a violent incident that occurred on Palm Sunday, resulting in significant loss of life. The Forum on Violence in Northern Nigeria, represented by Chairman Rev.

Joseph John Hayab and Secretary General Bishop Moham Naga, issued a statement expressing concern over the recurring violence that has left families grieving and communities displaced. The forum noted that insecurity is not limited to Plateau State, citing ongoing attacks in Benue, Borno, Niger, and Taraba states, where killings and abductions persist, forcing communities to live in fear.

They warned that the normalization of violence could deepen suffering and erode public confidence in the government's ability to ensure safety. The forum urged the federal government and security agencies to move beyond routine condemnations and demonstrate a stronger commitment to ending violence and bringing perpetrators to justice.

They called on religious leaders to promote unity and peace while encouraging Christians to remain steadfast in their faith during these challenging times.
