FG Declares Public Holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr 2026

The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays in observance of Eid-ul-Fitr, which marks the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan. This declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government.

In a statement issued by Dr. Magdalen Ajani, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, the minister extended warm greetings and heartfelt congratulations to the Muslim community for successfully completing Ramadan. He urged Muslims to continue embodying virtues such as love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice during this festive period.

The minister also called on all Nigerians to celebrate responsibly and to engage in acts of kindness within their communities. He assured that the Federal Government remains committed to fostering national unity, peace, and coexistence among all Nigerians.
