FG Declares Public Holidays for Easter Celebrations 2026

The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays in observance of Easter celebrations. This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement released on Wednesday.

Tunji-Ojo extended congratulations to Christians in Nigeria and the diaspora on this joyous occasion. He emphasized the importance of reflecting on the virtues associated with Easter, such as selflessness, forgiveness, and love, which are exemplified in the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Furthermore, he called for unity among citizens and highlighted the significance of peace and coexistence during the Easter period, reminding Nigerians of the value of tolerance and community.
